Kylie and her head makeup artists select a talented team of experienced and student makeup artists to work on the team. The event is the perfect makeup mentoring opportunity with Kylie and her head artists helping the new event artists. The day is huge but fun.
Kylie plans the makeup looks to suit the wide variety of designers, so the looks need to be universal. This year there were 2 makeup changes with touch-ups stage-side to ensure the models stayed looking fresh. The looks were a soft smoked-out Metallic mocha eye and hot pink lip with the second look: a merlot wash of shadow across the eye socket and a nude lip. Originally the second look was for a raspberry lip with the merlot eye but after the changeover time was shortened, Kylie decided on a simpler and faster nude lip.
The sunshine coast fashion Festival is in its 9th year, the show presents talented emerging and established local and national labels and a host of international design talent: VIPs, celebrities and media. The public experience is a weekend of: fashion, couture, ready to wear, swimwear and ethical design.
The Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival vision is to also shine the spotlight on Sunshine Coast labels while presenting national and international designers.
Caloundra is the perfect destination for fashionista's participating in the national and international fashion week circuits to undertake business and to celebrate a global industry alongside the general public all whilst enjoying a gorgeous beachside environment.

Using Kylie's Professional Mineral Goddess Makeup made it so quick and easy to accomplish all of our looks throughout the day. We only needed to apply our professional mineral goddess loose foundation powder once in the morning which the models then rocked all day. We built our looks from there.
It was amazing to work with 21 local, national and international brands in a series of shows in a spectacular Beach-side setting. The festival was hosted by the brand new five-star beach resort 'Elements of Byron.' Its lush gardens, breath-taking pools and private beach provided a spectacular backdrop to the fashions on display. It was great to once again work backstage with Fashion event veteran, Leon Kyriacou and his all-star Hair team.
Event organiser, Clint Hurrell outdid himself this year and the 2016 event blew the minds of the large crowd attending. The Byron Bay International Fashion festival is destined to become an important date on the fashion calendar for emerging labels and international brands.
So much fun! The venue was gorgeous as were all the fashions on display. The vibe was fantastic and everyone that attended was buzzing, all the backstage crew included! - I just love love love doing fashion parades!!!
Special thanks for Peter Campbell at FOM for the excellent coverage of our work at the event

Temperatures up in the high 30s this week and a perfect day for an underwater fashion photoshoot. The girls were having way too much fun and it's just a shame I didn't get an excuse to jump in myself this time. We saw some stunning outfits from Sarah Joseph Couture and some stunning lips from Bridie Coggan. I can't wait to see the final images from the amazing, Beth Mitchell.

Ok let’s be honest, who avoids mineral makeup because of the mess? No exaggeration, the first time I used it more makeup wound up on the walls rather than on my face! I was desperate to use a natural makeup, but like all things worthwhile (maintaining that toned bootie or working those abs) it required effort. There just seemed to be an easier road with makeup and I was happy to take it.
Fast forward four years and I’m faced with the mineral makeup dilemma once again. I sat in the makeup chair whilst being prepped for a photo shoot when the makeup artist appeared. Kylie Eustace of Kylie’s Professional in Burleigh radiated health and brightness—definitely a good sign! Then she told me, ‘I make my own mineral makeup and I’ll use that on you today’. Hmph…
But when Kylie handed me the mirror, I was gob smacked! It was one of the most flawless applications I had ever seen. Kylie had literally changed my life. Suddenly it wasn’t just about looking good anymore; I had to know that what I was putting on my face was actually good for my skin. Now my makeup kit contains a huge amount of Kylie’s Professional Mineral Goodness Makeup. I often favour her foundations to my liquid Giorgio Armani…and that’s a pretty big statement!
Here’s a little bit about Kylie, how she won me over and her tips to easily apply mineral makeup. There’s no wonder Kylie’s a Makeup Artist of the Year finalist in the Australian Beauty Industry Awards! Go girl!
How did the brand Kylie’s Professional come about?
Kylie’s Professional came about from my passion of playing with colours and mixing different products together. An addiction to makeup and colour that got out of hand was what got me started. Having extremely sensitive skin motivated me to create a range of non-irritating and safe products that was suitable for professional use.
Why mineral makeup?
I have always been passionate about being healthy and not using harmful products; this drew me towards minerals and other natural ingredients with all their wonderful healing properties.
What do you love about being a Gold Coast business?
I love the Gold Coast lifestyle. I work quite long hours at times and really appreciate having beautiful beaches, walkways, and rainforests so close and accessible to me when I need to have a break.
Tell us a little bit about your ground breaking underwater makeup work?
This has been an artist’s dream for all involved. Photographer Beth Mitchell is amazing. I had the freedom to interpret her vision into my ideas, devising at times outrageous hairstyles and underwater makeup. The ‘Imaginarium’ shoot has been exhibited in art galleries throughout Australia, Asia and Europe. The attention and media coverage has been fantastic - HUF Magazine, Vogue Italia, Professional Beauty, Fashion Weekly, Beauty Biz, Australian Hair and Beauty, Trend Hunter, Fashionising.com, and The Gold Coast Bulletin- GoldCoastEye (to name a few) are all publishing our work. I used special application techniques to ensure the makeup stayed put for hours of constant underwater work. Water strongly diffuses light and subdues colour. So makeup colours needed to be much more intense to show through and every feature and detail had to be very bold. I also just finished some more underwater makeup for a music clip for an up and coming Brisbane music artist Fieu. It is all very exciting!
What are your beauty tips for Gold Coast girls?
Keep well hydrated, protect your face from the sun, and wear minerals so your skin can breathe. Have fun with makeup (whether you have a natural style or an expressive style) and never leave your makeup in a hot car! Smile, laugh a lot, don’t take yourself too seriously, do what makes you happy and you’ll be beautiful inside and out.
Finally, a lot of girls are afraid to use mineral makeup, as there is a general consensus that the application is much harder and messier than regular makeup. What are your thoughts on this and what advice would you offer?
Here’s my tip, you HAVE to use good brushes. Application can be messy if you tend to be heavy-handed or don’t use quality synthetic brushes. As long as you don’t put too much product on your brush, there really shouldn’t be a problem. Using the right brushes will also minimise product fallout as the product will stay on your brush and make your application easier to blend. You need a high-quality, super-fine and soft synthetic brush for best results. With the bonus that they’re healthier and more gentle on the skin. I recommend anyone having difficulty to send me any questions and to also consider a lesson or workshop. Not all mineral formulas are created equal so results definitely differ from brand to brand.
Kylie’s Mineral Goddess is 100% Australian made and she also makes her own range of quality brushes. All her products can be purchased online here. Just for us Sassy girls, Kylie is offering a great deal: Spend over $100 and receive a free lipstick or gloss worth $36! Email Kylie to claim and discuss the perfect package for you!

]]>Awards are unnecessary really because the real reward is actually in doing the work. In being creative and in pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and surprising yourself. That said awards are a wonderful indicator that you are somewhat appreciated and on-track which gives you confidence and encouragement when doubts and fatigue start to creep in.
So without any further ado - WOOHOO!!!
